We are growing! Interview with Mattias “Plux” Stahre

Angry Creative is growing and getting stronger. Today, the 3rd of August 2011, we are joined by none other than Mattias “Plux” Stahre via our partner Kafit AB.

Mattias is a developer with very good knowledge in PHP, Python, C, .NET, Django & AJAX. Mattias will develop technical solutions to improve and simplify for our existing clients and act as a relief when clients need websites quickly.

– Tell us a little about yourself and your upbringing.

Since I have had the opportunity to grow up in several places, both on a dairy farm, on a large farm and in the city, I have already had the opportunity to try out a lot of different things since I was a child, and have thus gained a very broad knowledge base and learned a lot of things I did not think then that I would benefit from in completely different situations.

– Do you have any religion when it comes to technology?

If you’re going to do it, you have to do it properly. To be able to do that, you have to have a very strong interest in what you are doing, unlike “regular” jobs where you can drop most things when you go home for the day, as a programmer you have to spend a lot of time, usually free time, keeping up with what is happening in the IT world.

If you lack interest, it is very difficult to do a good job, because then you will never be good and succeed.

In many ways, programming is not a job, as much as it is a lifestyle.

– Why did you start studying/become interested in this subject?

Technology is something that has been with me all my life, and permeated many aspects of my life, the earliest story that exists that shows I had a keen interest in technology even then is from my three-year check-up. I was asked to draw an old man on a piece of paper, and I refused. But instead I told them in great detail how the video that was a few metres behind me worked instead.

A few years later we were at Kolmårdens Djurpark in Ladugården, since I grew up in the country and seen it before, I got bored and stood in the middle of the barn and told me how the ventilation system worked, how to clean it, and I apparently got a lot of unheard, then I was 4-5 years old.

However, my interest in computers really began to take off at some point during primary school. When I was in fourth grade, the teachers came and asked me about things how to do and when something went wrong. In secondary school I helped to administer the school’s network, something I did all the way up to high school, where I also had the opportunity to give some IT lessons, because the teacher thought I was better at explaining certain things.

For as long as I can remember, I have had a huge drive to learn more about things I encounter, I don’t just want to know “why” something exists, but I want to know how it works too.

– What are your hobbies?

Something that has always permeated my life, apart from technology, is outdoor activities in various forms. Scouting has been the biggest, but I have also been climbing, kayaking, shooting.

But the most important thing has been scouting, which has been very character-developing in several areas.

Otherwise, I collect both old computers and game consoles, from which I have learnt a lot about what I work with today. By knowing the background of why something exists, I have gained a great understanding of how things work now and why.

Even though modern computers seem very complex, there are a lot of basic principles that still apply and have been around for a very long time.

– What will you bring to our clients?

Unique, customised solutions that are tailored to what the client wants and needs.

Welcome Mattias!
