What have we done with WordPress this autumn?

During the autumn we have worked hard for our customers and produced a number of really fun projects where we used WordPress as a starting point. We have done some things that were new to us, and developed some interesting concepts for the CMS experience in WordPress but also managed to build things that WordPress generally does not support.

Many of the features we created we will generalise and release as open source on wordpress.org in the near future.

Lavendla – E-commerce with customised shopping flow

Lavendla

Lavendla is a company that sells funerals online. To make the experience tasteful and intuitive, we have customised the entire purchase flow in different steps to make ordering fast, smooth and easy. There is no “webshop feeling”, but rather a feeling of being constantly guided through your purchase.

The choice fell on WordPress over Magento as WordPress checkout would require less handwork to rebuild.

Båtunionen – Document management & integrations

Båtunionen

Båtunionen needed a website where they could publish useful information for members, but also where they could handle document management for the organisation.

In addition to the WordPress CMS parts, we built a document management system that audit manages the various files. In addition to this, we built a system so that some of these files cannot be accessed without being logged in via their membership system BAS.

Once the members get used to the new functionality, the idea is to release access to officials so that the entire organisation will manage the upload of meeting minutes etc. via the service.

In addition, we have a Solr search engine that makes all uploaded text files in, for example, PDF and Word searchable, which makes it much easier for members who try to look up documents for what they actually contain (for example, by searching for who was at the meeting) rather than guessing what is in the document via a title.

Technology: WordPress, Solr, oAuth.

KFAB – Integration with property systems

KFAB

KFAB (Katrineholms fastighetsaktiebolag) is Katrineholm municipality’s property company. They needed a website for external communication, but also wanted help integrating the property system Momentum into the user experience.

We created a login integration with Momentum that makes the login and logout process feel consistent on the website, rather than being perceived as an external service.

LEAD – Flexible marketing site

LEAD

LEAD needed a flexible marketing website and we built a website for them with incredible flexibility. With a combination of so-called ACF sections and Page Builder, the editor can control the content of each page down to the smallest detail.

With the ACF sections, the editor builds different “blocks” and sets how the background should behave and how the content in the block should work. For example, the editor can choose to create a “Hero” block that automatically reads the screen height and adjusts the background size accordingly, without any extra programming effort.

The editor can then choose to visually build the content of the block using the Page builder, deciding on the number of columns, the width of the columns and the type of content to be contained in them.

The approach creates a CMS experience where the client does not have to go to us as a supplier to create new landing pages, but the editor has free rein to create the pages they want, almost unlimited.

Technology: WordPress, ACF, Page builder.
