Qala version 2.9 is now available and offers more awesome and unique features for Qala and WooCommerce stores.
Qala is Angry Creative’s platform for WooCommerce. Qala has the most common features we’ve seen you need as an eCommerce merchant, along with a modern basic design. Qala 2.9 is the next step in its development, with more to come soon.
What’s new in 2.9?
The primary focus of this release was to create the following feature additions:
- Qala Minicart
- Qala Global Cart
- Qala Network Reports
In addition to the focus on these feature additions, there are also a ton of other things included. As usual, we have a bunch of improvements, big and small. To put it in numbers, Qala 2.9 has more than 300 changes implemented to improve the product.
New feature additions
Qala Minicart
The Qala Minicart add-on has been released!
This completely replaces the need for a single shopping cart page with all the features a shopping cart needs at the customer’s disposal. The plugin works seamlessly with Qala but it is also built so that you should be able to use it on any WordPress/WooCommerce site.
The design is very clean, stylesheets should be implemented by the theme to look really amazing. It should also be compatible with third-party extensions etc, as it uses standard WooCommerce hooks.
Qala Global Cart
This feature extension doesn’t do much visually, but oh so much more in the background. When a client has a multinational ecommerce site, they usually connect their content between languages with MultiLingualPress.
This extension ensures that all connected products remain in the customer’s shopping cart if they switch stores. Here is the scenario:
Customer puts 2 products in their shopping cart. They go to checkout, they realise “oh, I’m on the wrong site!”. Our Geo Redirect extension suggests the right website for them (tada)! When they move to the new website, this add-on takes the corresponding products on that website and seamlessly puts them in the customers’ shopping cart. They can now proceed to checkout!
Qala Network Reports
A nice little helper add-on for administrators of multinational sites who have not connected their store to an ERP. This add-on creates a network administration page where our clients can export all the orders from the sites in their network as an aggregated spreadsheet.
There is the option to select specific sites, start/end dates, order status and the extension creates an organised CSV file.
Other notable updates
Back in stock notifications
This third-party extension, from the official WooCommerce extension library, is now installed in Qala by default. Of course, we’ve also added stylesheets to make it look great in Qala.
Here’s how it works:
- Customers who end up on a sold-out product page are prompted to sign up with their email to be notified when the product becomes available.
- When the product is back in stock, all customers who signed up for product updates receive an automatic notification.
- Customers return to your store and complete their purchase!

What’s next?
The next version of Qala is already on the way and working on making Gutenberg part of the product is a stated focus. With the fast pace of Qala development, you won’t have to wait long for the next version to be released.
