…or at least a first prototype. For two weeks we have been working intensively to design and develop the very basics of our project. Memecak.es is a website that is meant to be the first of its kind.
We realise that it may be a little unclear to those who don’t really understand what meme cakes are. You’ve probably stumbled across at least one internet meme during your days on the internet. An internet meme (pronounced /’mi:m/ MEEM) is a concept that goes viral and spreads and is also created by more and more people. It can be anything from a video or a website to a small hashtag. One example is the Harlem Shake. It is a meme that went viral in a big way.
Because memes are fun and cakes are good, there are many attempts to bake cakes based on different memes, it should be added that some are more successful than others. What doesn’t exist is a dedicated page for all these cakes. There are only sporadic blog posts here and there on the internet listing some cakes. That’s why the Angry Creative crew thought there was a need for such a page. (This may be largely because they have a penchant for meme cakes.)
What we interns have done so far is to develop a page where the focus is on the uploaded material. It should be easy to look at meme cakes in all forms and it should be easy to upload new pictures of cakes. The site is of course based on WordPress and should work fully regardless of which device you visit it via. At present, as I said, it is only a very early release of the site, but since we are working continuously towards the sharp site, you can still sneak a peek at memecak.es and fiddle around a bit.
