The translation of WordPress 4.7 is complete. WordCamp Stockholm gave the boost the translation needed to be finished.
There has been a concern that the translation of WordPress 4.7 would suffer after the enthusiastic Mattias Tengblad, who has been driving a lot of the translations of WordPress to Swedish, dropped out of the work.
Therefore, the organizers of WordCamp Stockholm 2016 called on stage for all participants to contribute to the development of WordPress. Author Tor-Björn Fjellner took them at their word and translated 241 strings in one and a half days. Later on WordCamp Stockholm Contribution day, the translation was completely finished.
-The translation work has been in jeopardy since Mattias Tengblad dropped out of the work of leading the translation of WordPress. But at WordCamp we fixed the translation of 4.7, says Jimmy Rosén, CEO of Angry Creative.
Despite Mattias Tengblad’s departure, he has still translated 551 strings, followed by Isaac Keyeet, Swedish employee at Automattic, with 354 strings. Next comes Tor-Björn Fjellner, a multilingual IT consultant, with 241 strings. Angry Creative’s own Jimmy Rosén qualified in fourth place with his 49 translated strings.
Relying on two people for translations, Mattias Tengblad and Isaac Keyet, as in the past, is not sustainable in the long run, but today it is much easier to contribute with translations.
-“All you need is a login to Wordpress.org and you can translate,” says Jimmy Rosén. You don’t need any in-depth technical knowledge. Translating is a good way to contribute to WordPress if you are not a developer.
During WordCamp Stockholm Contribution Day, Angry Creative worked on a WP Vulnerability Scan security plugin that will be installed on Angry Creative’s/Synotio’s servers.
