Polestar
Innovating the future of electric vehicles
Polestar, a forward-thinking electric car brand, is on a mission to accelerate the shift toward sustainable mobility. With a vision to produce climate-neutral vehicles by 2030, Polestar combines cutting-edge technology with refined design to make electric mobility more accessible. Their merchandise store, "Additionals," serves as an extension of this ethos, blending the brand's sustainability goals with high-end design. When Polestar approached us, they were looking for a partner to help bring their global e-commerce ambitions to life.
additionals.polestar.comA WooCommerce store in need of stability
Polestar came to us with an existing WooCommerce site which needed attention for performance and database organisation among other things.
After taking over and managing the site in its current state, it was agreed a rebuild was required and would be the most efficient way to reach their goals.
Laying the groundwork for a global e-commerce platform
We started by conducting a comprehensive audit of the site to identify immediate concerns. The initial phase focused on implementing essential fixes, resulting in a remarkable upgrade to an A-grade performance score. With this short-term win secured, Polestar’s team was ready to shift focus to scaling the site globally and polishing the high-end frontend to reflect their premium brand identity.
Our task was to build a WooCommerce store that wasn’t just functional but scalable, sleek, and customer-centric—ready to serve 21 countries with seamless performance. This meant introducing custom features like API-based menus, product walls, and tailored category pages to improve the user experience. A key highlight was the custom product description page, reflecting Polestar’s design language.
Creating a unified, scalable e-commerce platform
Working closely with Prominate and Wackes, we developed a human-centered design that aligned with Polestar’s vision. From recreating the parent site’s mega menu to integrating seamlessly with WooCommerce, we ensured the merchandise site felt like an extension of the Polestar brand.
In addition to visual consistency, we streamlined business flows, migrated stock, and revamped voucher systems, transforming the site into a customer-centric, 21-country multisite—improving both scalability and performance.
Our solutions not only addressed current needs but also set the stage for Polestar’s continued growth toward sustainability and innovation.
