A digital solution shaped by business needs
When their previous supplier shut down its e-commerce offering, Nordfarm was left with a legacy setup based on scheduled XML imports. The shift to real-time communication via API became essential. Choosing an open-source foundation was also a deliberate step to avoid vendor lock-in.
With the introduction of a new API in their business system, JMA Maskindata presented a new opportunity to build a more connected and operationally aligned platform. Nordfarm wanted a solution that could reflect their reseller-driven workflows and support day-to-day operations.
A structure that supports daily operations
As the first part of the project, the goal was to replicate Nordfarm’s previous implementation, which was more than a decade old, using the new API and its associated functionality.
Over time, we developed a structure based on Nordfarm’s workflows, where product data, quotation flows, and dealer contacts were consolidated into a coherent system that leveraged the same logic, but with improved performance, modern integration, and greater flexibility.
A new digital workspace for dealers
With hundreds of thousands of spare parts across thousands of categories, the platform needed to meet high-performance demands from day one. What began as a replacement for their older system has evolved into a flexible tool tailored to Nordfarm’s dealer network, with additional features added over time, including the ability to save recurring customer requests as templates. Users can now browse extensive catalogues, add spare parts to their baskets and create quotations in an effective and user-friendly way.
Managing content with WordPress and Qala
The platform is built on WordPress and Qala, which provides a highly efficient and structured content management experience. Category pages have been optimised to support sales, with a clear structure and strong product presentation. With full control over the site, Nordfarm’s editors manage everything themselves, from updates and new content to product information and visuals, which enables fast and independent work.
Built for reuse and ready for others
The solution developed with Nordfarm is designed for reuse beyond their reseller-focused operations. By integrating directly with DSM, it offers a proven and cost-effective path for other organisations working with the same business system. This includes not only companies within the group but also external businesses that can connect to the same API and benefit from a shared model for development and maintenance.
